Abstract
- The vehicle control system (VCS) for a hybrid electric city bus is developed, including energy management strategy (EMS) and power coordination control (PCC). Based on the division and analysis of bus operation modes, the EMS determines the corresponding control strategy for each operation mode; while PCC uses the torque of the driving motor as compensation to realize AMT shifting without power interruption. In addition, the software of hybrid control unit (HCU) is developed using automatic code generation technology. The results of real vehicle test show that with the VCS developed, the fuel economy and power performance of the hybrid electric city bus are enhanced by around 26% and 17% respectively with emissions also improved.
