Current 'relicts' more dynamic in history than previously thought.

The authors discuss the paper of Qi and colleagues which focuses on the response of relict genus Cercidiphyllum to climatic or geological changes using genetic information from chloroplast (cp) and nuclear DNAs. They mention that Qi and colleagues who used ecological niche modelling (ENM) estimated that the specie split from its sister lineage during late Cretaceous period based on cpDNA evidence.
