Abstract
- The authors discuss the logic behind the call by the global community of mental health professionals (MHP) and researchers calling for action on global mental health (GMH). The call acknowledges the acute shortfall of resources, which it plans to overcome with increased government expenditure, primarily on community based services. Meeting the challenges of GMH needs an understanding of globalized mental health and research on how global economic and political forces structure mental health.
