Abstract

The article presents information on the investment made by the enzymes industry in the production and development of cellulosic biofuels. It mentions that the scientists have developed an enzyme which can degrade cellulose into the sugars needed to make fuel ethanol, and informs about glucoamylase enzymes which aid in fermenting of sugars to ethanol from starch. It also informs that financial support will be provided by the U.S. Dept. of Energy (DOE) to reduce enzyme high costs for consumers.
