Suicidal masculinities: understanding the gendered nature of male suicide.

The article reports on research which was conducted at the University of Sydney in Camperdown, New South Wales in an effort to investigate the gendered nature of male suicide. Researchers evaluated 18 men who engaged in suicidal behavior. They found that the issue of masculinity was of particular significance in the suicidal behavior of the Australian men that they studied and that seeking help was often seen as weak or unmasculine.
