Abstract

A discussion on how to teach History of Architecture is under way at the School of Architecture of Havana. Some members of faculty say that knowledge should not be taught the traditional way, what means following a chronological order related to geographic regions. They propose that History should respond to those Design themes to be developed by students, as happens in other foreign universities. This paper shows the opinion of the three authors who sustain that History should be taught following the chronological sequence. Their concepts are based on experience teaching that subject along more than twenty years in Cuba and other countries and also trough the analysis of other universities' curricula, and must of all, because of Cuban particularities.
