Abstract

The article discusses the release of the 2012 State of Canada's Birds report by the North American Bird Conservation Initiative in Canada. According to the report, the number of birds on average has declined nationally by 12%, with 33% of species increasing and 44% decreasing. The report shows that aerial insectivores have decreased by nearly 70%, possibly as a result of habitat alteration or a decline in insect prey due to the use of pesticide.
