Abstract

The article offers information on the population, species and the health of polar bears. It mentions that a male Ursus maritimus weigh 600 kilograms, can stand more than three metres tall and live up to 30 years. The diet of polar bear primarily consists of the blubber and skin of bearded seals. The Foxe Basin is home to one of the largest polar bear population of Canada, approximated at more than 2,500 polar bears in 2010.
