Globalization of the Epidemiologic, Clinical, and Financial Burden of Atrial Fibrillation.

The article looks at the burden of atrial fibrillation (AF). It references an article by G. Y. H. Lip et al. published within the issue which offers a systematic review of epidemiologic studies on AF in regions outside North America and Europe. The study focused on the prevalence of AF, risk factors for the condition and the use of antithrombotic prophylaxis. The need to develop simpler care delivery methods for patients with AF in low-income and less developed countries is tackled.
