One-pot fast synthesis of spherical ZnS/Au nanocomposites and their optical properties.

Spherical ZnS/Au nanocomposites have been synthesized through a fast one-step microwave-hydrothermal route. Surfactant polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was used as shape modifier to control the size of products. The use of different sulfur sources also resulted in nanospheres with different sizes. The formation mechanism of the nanocomposites is discussed. The UV-vis and photoluminescence properties of the as-prepared nanocomposites with different Au doping concentrations showed tunable UV and visible emission intensity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
