Abstract

The article discusses the results of a study that examines the association between body mass index (BMI) of women and common adverse outcomes and conditions in obstetrics and gynecology. The study shows that most common adverse outcomes and conditions are associated with BMI compared with the traditional descriptors including age, gravidity and parity. It concludes with a suggestion to include the BMI in the opening statement of the history of present illness.
