La implantación de lean production en los proveedores del sector aeronáutico: ¿dependencia o compromiso?

The implementation of lean production (LP) in the aeronautics industry has been rather slow in coming: it has not begun or is still ongoing in many agents in the supply chain. However, the success of LP in this sector largely depends upon the extent of its application along the supply chain. A key issue is knowing what influence management commitment and supplier dependence on the driving organisation have on its implementation. This study presents an exploratory case study of four ancillary companies in the aeronautics sector involved in the Airbus Military supply chain Optimisation Project that uses lean methodology. The findings show that implementation seems to be related to commitment, but not to dependence, and that commitment cannot therefore be imposed from outside. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
