Standard Handicap Friendly.

The article brings information about a recently published Standard „Handicap Friendly“ created by Association of Library and Information Professionals of the Czech Republic (SKIP CR). The standard proceeds from the demand on equal access to information and library services and describes necessary arrangements to improve the services for library users with special needs. The standard covers eight basic areas: general measures, requirements concerning staff, library collections and services, technical and material conditions, websites, organization of special events, cooperation and promotion and integrative activities. Presently the standard deals with four groups of users with special needs, namely, persons with visual, hearing, physical and mental impairment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
