Abstract
- The article examines a series of painting-sculptures by the Brazilian artist Willys de Castro, which were titled "Active Objects." Topics discussed include what inspired the works, insights on the techniques used to create the works and how de Castro's work compares to that of other Brazilian artists that were working in the mid-20th century. The exhibition "Concrete Invention: Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros," to be held at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, Spain, through September 16, 2013 is also noted.
