Abstract

In order to improve the side impact safety of a domestic production car model, the side impact sub-models for side airbag, human abdomen and hip are built with MADYMO based on the vehicle side impact test and components tests of the car. By applying the theoretical model for side impact, the dummy injury mechanism and the correlation between various parameters of car body are studied. The side airbag and the structures in related locations of door-trim are modified through computer simulation and verified by component tests. The results show that by means of components tests dummy injury can be effectively reduced with the side impact safety of vehicle improved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
