FoxO1 breaks diabetic heart.

The authors discuss the significant role of forkhead box protein O1 (FoxO1) in diabetic cardiomyopathy. The authors cite the results of various studies which showed the role of FoxO1 in the myocardial metabolic disturbances in diabetic cardiomyopathy and FoxO-mediated vicious cycle of insulin resistance. The authors state that the studies provide insights on the pathogenesis of diabetic cardiomyopathy but further research is needed for FoxO1 roles in non-obese insulin-deficient diabetes.
