Cultivating a Special Collection.

The article presents information on special collections in U.S. libraries. The author looks at a collection of of former teacher John T. Scopes' suitcase, acquired by Western Kentucky University's (WKU) Manuscripts and Archives Department. The article also offers suggestions to librarians on how to attain special collections acquisitions through potential donors, such as developing a relationship with the donor, knowing the collection's strengths, and maintaining professional integrity.
