Abstract

This study sought to understand the relationship between school principles' instructional leadership behaviors and their use of constructive and destructive dimensions of conflict management. This relational study had the characteristics of survey model because it aimed at determining the relationship between school principles' principles' instructional leadership behaviors and their use of constructive and destructive dimensions of conflict management for conflict resolution. The population of the study was composed of 773 teachers working in 109 elementary schools in the city of Kilis in 2010-2011 academic year. The randomly selected sample consisted of 140 teachers working in 16 elementary schools. To collect the data, "Organizational Conflict Scale" and "Instructional Leadership Scale" were used. According to the results, there was a moderate relationship between school principles' instructional leadership and their use of constructive and destructive dimensions of conflict management. It was also found that school principles' use of constructive and destructive dimensions of conflict management explains 30% of the total variance of instructional leadership. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
