Opinion: Safeguarding lawyers and defendants.

The article explores the amend Lawyers Law of China, which expanded what forms confidential information and introduces a law in line with the Criminal Procedure Law to better protect the rights of lawyers and defendants. The expansion of the scope of confidential information was done to bring the Lawyer's Law in line with international standards. The amended law also aims to better standardize lawyer's behavior in practice and greater predictability in the system.
