Abstract: The article reports that several U.S. companies have reformed their compensation practices in response to pressure from shareholder activists. The accelerated vesting of stock options and payment by firms of certain taxes owed by executives are among policies that activists have criticized. Information is presented about changes made at banking company Citigroup Inc. and drug maker Abbott Laboratories.
