Abstract

The author, a college art professor, discusses observing his daughter drawing as a toddler, and describes the effect of his daughter's art on his own perception of art. Storytelling in art, the psychology of young children, and learning are discussed, as well as communication ability in children. Visual culture and efficiency are discussed, and the author mentions teaching freshman about artists such as Southern Cheyenne Indian Howling Wolf and American artist James Taylor. Realism versus memory in art is also mentioned.
