HALE Competition.

The article discusses the competition by foreign aerospace companies to develop high-altitude long-endurance (HALE) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for use in maritime surveillance by the Indian navy. Particular focus is given to the Triton aircraft designed by Northrop Grumman for the U.S. Navy Broad-Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) program. Other UAV designs under consideration include the Hermes 900 MP by Elbit Systems and the ScanEagle small ship-launched UAV by Boeing InSitu.
