Rehabilitación Urbana y Gentrificación en el Barrio de Chueca: la Contribución Gay.

This paper reviews the links between the gentrification process of the Madrilenian district of Chueca and homosexual presence. As envisioned, Chueca already was in the gay and transvestite epicenter from decades ago. It is further argued that the gay business and residential attraction of the 90's and 2000's alone do not explain the participation of gay and lesbian population in the process of gentrification and neighborhood rehabilitation. It is necessary to look at representations of the male homosexual, to the changes in their lifestyles, to grasp the changes in Chueca image. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
