Abstract

The article outlines the ADDIE library instructional design (ID) model and illustrated how the principles to information literacy (IL) instruction will enhance students' learning experience and librarians' teaching experience. The model consists of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation steps. The instructional problem is determined in the analysis phase along with learner characteristics. This is followed by the development of instructional strategies and learning content and learning assignments. The testing of prototypes is included in the implementation phase, while the evaluation phase assesses the outcomes of learning. Particular focus is given to the creation of effective learning experiences for library users.
