Ageing in the European Union.

The article discusses the implications of population ageing for health, long-term care and welfare systems in the European Union (EU). It notes that societies need to embrace policy options to improve to robustness of health including prevention and health promotion and increased coordination of care. Particular focus is given to population trends in the region, such as migration and fluctuating birth rates. Increases in age-associated public expenditure are also addressed.
