Abstract
- The article focuses on the importance of careful examination of the peripheral blood film to establish early diagnosis of disseminated histoplasmosis. It discusses the case of a 50-year-old male who was diagnosed with HHV8/HIV-negative plasmacytic multicentric Castleman's disease. It says that the peripheral blood film of the patient showed presence of yeasts within the neutrophils. It adds that the patient was treated with intravenous ambisome but died from disseminated histoplasmosis.
