Abstract: The article presents a laboratory experiment to help first-year undergraduate analytical chemistry students understand the concept of simultaneous electrochemiluminescence (ECL). It describes the phenomenon of ECL using an electrochemical cell to illustrate the reaction of luminol with hydrogen peroxide. Information on equipment and materials used, procedure, safety considerations, and discussion topics is provided.
