Abstract

Fragile X syndrome is caused by loss of expression of FMRP, a protein proposed to act as a regulator of mRNA translation which promotes synaptic maturation and function. Now FMRP has been found to associate with the RNP complex that mediates post-transcriptional silencing by RNAi. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
