Abstract

The article presents research which examines three type XI collagen gene polymorphisms associated with chronic Achilles tendinopathy (AT) in independent populations in South Africa and Australia. The study also investigates whether the COL11A1, COL11A2, and COL2A1 polymorphisms interact with COL5A1 to regulate the risk of AT. The authors conclude the polymorphisms of types XI and V collagen interact to modulate collagen fibril assembly.
