Abstract

The article provides information on the association of a worldview to science as more ambiguous and complex. It discusses the differing views of philosophers and scientists on the proper scope and explores two different types of science, such as Cartesian ad Baconian. It highlights how the differing intuitions on scientific inquiry are apparent in contemporary argument about reductionism and presents the work of physicists John Polkinghorne and Steven Weinberg.
