Abstract
- The article discusses the use of asyndetic parataxis, or two nouns not connected by a conjunction, in the Old English poem "The Ruin." Focus is given to the use of the Old English nouns "waldend" ("rulers") and "wyrhtan" in the work. The author draws from the work of linguist Else von Schaubert regarding the poem and its use of participle structures.
