Abstract
- A critique is presented of the book "In Country" by Bobbie Ann Mason, focusing on themes of the therapeutic aspects of memory, the unconscious mind, and the idea of the talking cure in psychotherapy. Vietnam veteran characters in the novel, a trip to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., and repressed memories are discussed, as well as themes of trauma, self-healing, and symbols in the novel.
