Abstract
- Self-assembled arrays of hemisphericalgallium nanoparticles depositedby molecular beam epitaxy on a sapphire support are explored as anew type of substrate for ultraviolet plasmonics. Spin-casting a 5nm film of crystal violet upon these nanoparticles permitted the demonstrationof surface-enhanced Raman spectra, fluorescence, and degradation followingexcitation by a HeCd laser operating at 325 nm. Measured local Ramanenhancement factors exceeding 107demonstrate the potentialof gallium nanoparticle arrays for plasmonically enhanced ultravioletdetection and remediation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
