Abstract

The article explores the structure of the genome within cells in mammals and humans. It notes that between 5% and 15% of the genome in mammals is evolutionarily constrained and is presumably functional. It cites the discovery that the physical organization and structure of the genome within cells casts discernable shadows on the sequence. Researchers also found a large gap between the proportion of the genome thought to be functional.
