Abstract

The article presents an open-ended geometry problem to illustrate the benefits of problem-based instruction to teachers and students. It highlights the circle problem and the opportunities that the exercise could offer to students, particularly in the evaluation and application of theorems that they previously studied. It notes that the said classroom activity could enhance the mathematical skills of students which include strategic competence, adaptive reasoning, and conceptual understanding.
