Abstract
- In order to verify the occurrence of zoonotic helminths and their importance in public health, were collected 130 fecal samples of soil from squares of 13 neighborhoods. It was found that 59,2%(77/130) were positive for at least one species of helminth, against 40,8%(53/130) negative. In positive samples was observed eggs Ancylostoma sp. and Toxocara sp., possible causes of zoonoses, and Trichuris sp.. These results reinforce the implementation of effective public health measurements aiming to reduce the frequency of these parasites, and thus, its potential transmission to humans.
