Abstract

Describes the author's research on olive baboons in the Musai Mara National Reserve in the Serengeti Plain of Kenya. Compares the physiological responses of a typical baboon diet with baboons that live off human garbage dumps. Reaching puberty earlier; Increased cholesterol levels of damaging low-density lipoproteins; Increased insulin levels; Bovine tuberculosis.
