Abstract

Highlights: [•] ABZ and FLBZ efficacy against cystic echinococcosis (CE) was assessed. [•] ABZ metabolites reached a higher systemic exposure compared to FLBZ/metabolites. [•] Both ABZ and FLBZ markedly decreased protoscoleces’ vitality/viability. [•] Hepatotoxicity due to the long standing treatment was not observed. [•] Enhancing FLBZ bioavailability may improve the efficacy against CE. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
