Abstract

This paper proposes an alternative formulation for the problem of dispatching generation units in a predominantly hydro system considering a medium-term horizon. Hydro-power dispatch is expressed as a equilibrium problem with equilibrium constraints (EPEC) and its solutions are compared to the solutions of a classical optimal hydro dispatch problem. A stochastic formulation is used to represent uncertainties in water inflows. Results are presented for realistic test systems with interconnected reservoirs. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
