SYMULATORY JAZDY SAMOCHODEM - WIRTUALNE ŚRODOWISKA BADAŃ UKŁADU KIEROWCA-POJAZD-OTOCZENIE.

The paper presents the general design of a driving simulator and a brief overview of selected concepts in its construction. Three types of simulators have been discussed: simple for training purposes, mid-level and world-class simulators. Exemplary applications in testing behaviour of the driver during normal driving conditions have been listed and in preaccidental situations. A possibility has been mentioned to use driving simulators during basic training and supplementary training of drivers, especially in the context of recommendations of the European Directive 2003/59/EC, which allows the use of top-of-the-range simulator simulators in the initial qualification and periodical training.
