Abstract
- This article discusses American painter and photographer Chuck Close who suffers from prosopagnosia, also known as face blindness, a condition that results in the inability to recognize faces. The author examines the impact of this disorder on his portraits, many of which are made up of rectangular grid shapes that form a face when seen from a distance. An example of this technique is provided using his self-portrait, which includes the original photograph for comparison with the distorted work.
