Abstract
- An essay is presented on the practice of separating serialized fiction into canonical and noncanonical subtexts. It offers an examination of "massive serialized collaborative fiction" such as the film series "Star Wars" and the distinction between the canonical and noncanonical divide The author goes on to determine the practical and pragmatic reasons for drawing distinctions between canonical and noncanonical subtexts as well as the philosophically substantial reasons.
