Abstract

The article discusses a study which examines the effects of the axial variations of mineralisation and porosity on the elastic properties in the human inferior femoral neck. It mentions that tissue mineral density (TMD) and haversian porosity (HP) were determined through a synchrotron micro-computed tomography and were used in the estimation of bone elastic coefficients. It found that TMD or HP obtained accurate estimates of the elastic properties.
