Seventh annual symposium on social aspects of death, dying and bereavement.

The article provides information on the seventh one-day symposium on social aspects of death, dying and bereavement on November 27, 1997 at the Open University, Milton Keynes, England. The morning's program included ethnographically based studies into the management of death in three distinctive settings such as residential and nursing homes for elderly people, in intensive medical care units and in hospital and hospice care for members of South Asian communities in Great Britain. The early afternoon's program presented two theoretical papers exploring the cultural construction of death in contemporary society.
