Abstract
- The article focuses on the excavation of mosaics at the site of a fifth-century C.E. Huqoq synagogue in Galilee, Israel. The article discusses the mosaic's depiction of the Biblical figure Samson as described in the Biblical book of Judges as well as riders with horses representing Philistines. The article goes on to discuss another mosaic which depicts men in tunics, men with swords and elephants which may represent the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.
