Abstract

Reports that a commission appointed by Gov. Mario M. Cuomo to study the future of the Adirondack Park is recommending that New York buy more than 650,000 acres to preserve as wilderness and impose strong rules to limit development elsewhere in the park. The panel also calls for a one-year moratorium on all new construction on 90 percent of the park's privately held lands, and will urge permanent checks on most lake front property.
