Abstract

The article looks at the investigation into a possible August 2013 chemical attack using the nerve agent sarin in Ghouta, Damascus, Syria by the Syrian military against rebels in the country's civil war. It is noted that sarin causes muscle spasms, convulsions, and asphyxiation in victims. Other topics include efforts by United Nations weapons investigators to determine the source of the attack from short-range rockets and the potential outcome of U.S. bombing of chemical weapons stockpiles.
