- Discusses the idea that the need to provide library services to the Spanish-speaking population continues to intensify, in light of the significant growth of this population in the U.S. Recent growth trends which show the beginning of change in the pattern of Hispanic concentrations; Reading interests of new immigrants, including a desire to learn English; Reading interests of settled immigrants, including self-help books; Idea that major Hispanic groups are interested in reading material about political systems; Mention of Maria Kramer of the Biblioteca Latinoamericana in San Jose, California, who serves a Hispanic community.
