Libraries substantially invest in electronic resources, reach out to new audiences and stress their perception as 'hybrid' information providers. So far, however, libraries have lacked an aggregate statistical measure that supports them in advocacy, funding and in assessing progress and return on investment into virtual services. The Centre for Digital Media Transition at Stuttgart Media University researches the drivers and manifestations of digital media transition and their implications on society.
