Abstract

The idea that the conquests of Anatolia were an essential beginning for both Islamic and Christian worlds is accepted by almost all of orientalists. Anatolia, by a topographical definition, is a bridge between Europe and Asia and throughout the history it was known as the East-West war zone. In the middle age, Byzantine-Islam struggles and conquests of Anatolia kept alive in the memories through the centuries by epics like Dânişmendnâme. In this paper, the poetic version of Dânişmendnâme which was written in Dârende in the 19th century (1280/1863-1864) is introduced as a mentality of these conquests and the preparation of this mentality which was deal with its importance.
